When you’re the one visiting, make sure that you prepare yourself. You have to know the names of family members who are attending the gathering. You don’t need a whole stack of index cards to write everything down – it doesn’t have to be that tedious. Just ask your partner who is going to be there and maybe ask for basic information – names, where they work and so on.

Flexibility is not related to your body here. You should focus more on their family traditions. Definitely, it will not be the same as yours so you have to be flexible or open enough to join in on whatever holiday tradition your future family practices.

You’re going to be the guest but you don’t have to act like one. When it’s time to do the dishes, make sure that you offer a hand. This is a great way to make a good first impression.

4. Stick To Safe Conversation Topics

It’s essential for you to mingle with everybody. As you do this, make sure that you stick to topics that are safe. For example, you can talk about your work, the other person’s work, the weather and the like. Avoid controversial topics like politics, money or religion.
