Hurtful Words You Should Never Say In An Argument

When we’re in an argument with our significant other, we sometimes cannot help it if we say hurtful words that can end up damaging the relationship. That’s exactly where the problem starts since we can’t take back what we already said. If there is no communication after the fight, the hurtful words we said could be ruining our relationship from the inside.

Hurtful Words You Should Never Say In An Argument
Be careful with the words you say when you’re arguing with your significant other.

Hurtful Words To Avoid When Arguing

This may come as a surprise to you because these words or phrases are not exactly what you would expect. They are hurtful words, but they are not profanity. Here’s the list, so you know what we mean:

“I hate you…”

Hate is a very strong word to use. It communicates intense anger and aggressiveness even if your voice is not raised when you say it. Even if we don’t explain it here, “I hate you” is simply a hurtful phrase for anybody to hear.

“You should…”

The two people in the relationship need to feel like they’re equals. Neither one should be superior to the other, but if you’re always saying “you should…” in an argument, you’re communicating that you’re the boss who’s giving out orders. “You should” is hurtful because it’s condescending to your partner.

“It’s all your fault.”

Even if your partner is at fault, you should never say these hurtful words because you don’t want to rub his or her fault all on your partner’s face. If you were the one who did something wrong and your partner said some things that made you feel like the worst person in the world, you’d feel pretty down too.

“You’re never ever going to…”

This phrase sounds too final, don’t you think? You have to give people a chance even if they’ve offended you numerous times. It’s downright mean for you to say that one person is never going to achieve this or that, or is never going to change for the better.

It’s normal for couples to fight, but make sure that what you have in mind when you argue is to look for a solution, and not worsen your situation. When you argue, don’t let your emotions get the best of you. If you do, you might just end up hurting the most important person in your life.
